Events Happening in Grande Prairie This Summer

Welcome to the summer of 2023 in Grande Prairie! It’s that time of year when the days get longer, the afternoons and evenings are filled with sunshine, and the “Swan City” comes alive. Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or simply a good time, Grande Prairie has got you covered. Here are some of the exciting events happening in Grande Prairie this summer:

The Monster Obstacle Course


June 29, 30, and July 1


Bonnetts Energy Arena



Grande Prairie, meet the Monster! The Monster is the world’s biggest inflatable obstacle course – 1,000 ft long and over 40 obstacles. The Monster is the brainchild of a UK company and has since sold out in countries around the world. Participants must be 7+ years of age and a minimum of 3 ft. tall to run the course, and a parent/ guardian must accompany any child under the age of 15. 

Canada Day Kickoff


July 1: Canada Day parade from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Muskoseepi Park activities from 3:30 p.m. to midnight.

Celebrate Canada Day in Grande Prairie and attend the city’s annual Canada Day Parade before enjoying some of the planned event activities. Kids will have a plethora of fun activities to choose from, with everything from free cake to carnival rides, games, a lively kids’ zone, and even free drop-in swimming at the Aquatera Outdoor Pool. For adult attendees, enjoy the beer garden from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and check out some live entertainment and food trucks. Make sure to stick around until the end of the night, when events will wrap up with a bang during the Canada Day fireworks display at 11:30 p.m.

The TeePee Creek Stampede is a chance to enjoy “4 days in the wild” across 80 acres – with a full rodeo, wagons, beer gardens, and more. Of course, there will also be live entertainment in the beer gardens – with live music performances from Corb Lund, High Valley, and more. Kids aren’t forgotten in the festivities either, with several activities ranging from Kids Wild Horse Races and the TP Junior Rodeo. Check it out this summer and see why it’s been wrangling in Western attendees for over 100 years – since 1917!

Hosted by Odyssey House, GrandeCon 2023 is Grande Prairie’s ultimate comic convention and exposition. Complete with all of the usual events ranging from special guest appearances and cosplay contests to a pop-culture-influenced vendor market, this huge event is guaranteed to offer the ultimate fan-friendly weekend. This year’s guests will feature five-time WWF and WWE World Heavyweight Championship winner Bret “The Hitman” Hart and Ross Marquand of the Walking Dead, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and more. 100% of proceeds from this event will go to Odyssey House.
