The sun is shining, the snow is (still) melting, and summer has arrived in the alpine paradise of Kananaskis! K-Country is a treasure trove of nature activities in Alberta, providing unparalleled opportunities for adventure and outdoor experiences. From competitive relays through the Rocky Mountains to relaxing evenings by the fire, there’s something to keep everyone entertained. Here are some of the exciting events happening in Kananaskis this summer:

Kananaskis 100 Mile Relay

The Kananaskis 100 Mile Relay is one of Alberta’s top-rated road races – spanning 100 miles (161km) across 10 legs. Starting in the early morning, participants make their way along Highway 541 before entering into the Kananaskis Valley and finishing at the Nakiska Ski Area. The race passes along the highest paved road in Canada, the Highwood Pass, and is the only run of its kind permitted in the park, offering an unmatched opportunity in one of the most unique settings available. Festivities surrounding the race include a pre-race dinner in Longview, a post-race meal at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, and an after-party with Tool Shed beer and chef’s post-race food creations. Participants will receive a discounted rate when booking at Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge.

Fireside Live Music at Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge

Settle in for an evening of fireside live music at the foot of the peaks of the rocky mountains with a s’more or beverage in hand. Outside of the Market Cafe in Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, fire pits will function as a stage for live music from local artists. Access to fireside live music is included with your resort fee.

20th Annual BMI Charity Classic

The 20th Annual BMI Charity Classic will be held at the beautiful Kananaskis Country Golf Course this year, celebrating two whole decades of supporting the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
